Object Remove

By Robin Collier

Overview

This program deletes object files (.bin) from your FM folder, and deletes the associated textures. The textures are only deleted if they are not used by any other objects. When a 'mesh' is selected, it also deletes the .cal file, if there is one. Multiple files can be deleted in one go, from both mesh and obj folders if required.

Requirements

Installation

Simply extract the files (ObjectRemove.exe and Ionic.Zip.dll) to any folder and run the .exe. The .dll file is used to allow deleted objects to be backed up.

User Account Control

If you use Windows Vista and above, and you have UAC enabled, this program may occasionally ask for higher privileges. You will be prompted under the following circumstances:

Using the Program

The objects you select are shown in a list. You can prevent an object being deleted by selecting it in the list and clicking 'Remove from list'.

The first time an object is deleted, the program scans all bin files and builds an index of objects and their textures. This can take a while, but it makes the program much quicker the next time round. On subsequent occasions, the list will be updated if you've added/removed objects. The time taken depends on the number of objects added.

All deleted files are backed up in zip files in the program's Backups folder. By default each object (plus its textures) are stored in a zip file named after the object. The textures are backed up even if they are not deleted, in case they get deleted later on and you want to restore the object.

You have an option to store all deleted objects in a single file for the current job. The current date and time are inserted into the backup filename. There is a button to open the backup folder.
