You're no longer safe in Shalebridge. The Bluecoats are getting close to finding you, and they're out for revenge for when you tried to frame Lieutenant Hagen. They're also a bit embarrassed about you escaping from them when they tried to arrest you at the Crippled Burrick.
After getting rid of Karras, you were hoping for a bit of a break from being hunted like this, but Hagen himself is leading the charge. And he isn't going to stop.
You're a thief, not a warrior. You'll have to find another place to live.
Somewhere far from the City.
Of course there's always an opportunity to make money, and always a need. A servant working for Lord Barnham has contacted you. There is another noble, Lord Sarringham, who is in possession of an item called The Serpentyle Torc. It used to belong to one of Barnham's ancestors who lived in the Old Quarter when the undead uprising forced everyone to flee. It had been thought by Barnham that in the panic the Torc had simply been left there, with nothing but zombies and dead Hammerites for company. It would have been far too dangerous to try to retrieve it.
Doubts have now been raised as to what happened to it, since it has recently come into the possession of Lord Sarringham. Barnham has now requested that it be returned to him as it considered a family heirloom, but Sarringham has refused to do so without significant compensation. Barnham has refused to pay anything because he believes Sarringham has no legal claim to the Torc.
This is where you come in. Barnham has given up on the idea of Sarringham doing the 'right thing', So he has requested your services instead. Although he won't pay Sarringham anything, he is willing to pay you, as you'd be helping him retrieve what is his.

Lord Sarringham lives in Fort Montoya, a remote building, set deep within a forest. Getting there will be very difficult. The nearest town, Robington, is many miles away, and on foot the journey would take months. But going on foot isn’t the only option.
A servant will be staying in Robington for a few days before going to work at the Fort. An overheard conversation has revealed that he will be using a new invention, pioneered by a group of industrialists, to get there much quicker. You’ll be using it too...
